Last year, we kicked off a committee to discuss all things Hall of Residence.
The Halls Committee is a place where elected representatives for each hall can raise issues and give opinions on behalf of fellow residents. It’s all about empowering students in halls to have a voice and ensure student welfare and engagement is prioritized.
There are two Representatives per hall, with the exception of Uni Hall which has three: One for Whānau house, Pasifika Housing and Uni Hall in general. The Halls Representatives are elected at the beginning of each year and meet at least four times during the year.
The areas of focus of the Halls Committee include, but are not limited to:
Quality of accommodation in Halls
Quality of pastoral care within Halls, including
Quality of catering in Halls
The co-creation of positive and supportive Hall environments
The condition of Hall facilities
Concerns with the running of Halls
Mechanisms for Dispute Resolution and Critical Incidents
Welfare within Halls
General concerns as they arise
